How to make WPF Application run infinitely until terminated
I am creating an application which uses System.Windows.Threading.DispatcherTimer to repeatedly fire an event handler every few seconds and update some UI element as needed.
This application is meant to run 24/7, so I want it to run continuously until terminated (using Ctrl+C, or just by killing the process). Is there any way to do this?
To clarify, I don't want the UI element to be updated every second, I just want the event handler to fire every few seconds.
I also want to be able to control how much CPU time my application uses.
The application is a Windows Forms application, which I would like to change to WPF if possible.
A:
Well, you can start the application, and call Thread.Sleep(timeout) while not using any resources. You will need to catch exceptions.
Or if you want the animation to occur, you could use an AnimationTimer:
Russia's ambassador to the United States has dismissed suggestions that Donald Trump's presidency may change the nation's political alliances, calling them "childish fantasies".
Sergey Kislyak, who has served as Russia's envoy to the US since 2008, made the comments during a wide-ranging interview with CNN on Sunday.
He was responding to a question about whether Trump's presidency might have led to a realignment in the Western alliance.
While speaking on the wide-ranging interview, Mr Kislyak dismissed the suggestion that the President had influenced foreign policy and questioned the motives of the interviewer.
"I just want to say that everything is being said about the Trump presidency — that there is the 'weird' new administration and then there is this 'normal' political environment of the United States," he said.
"It's childish fantasy to say that the coming years will be the same as the past years."
